Is there any benefit to using technology for assessment? Explain.
Using technology for assessment has many advantages and some disadvantages. From a data analysis point it opens up a huge window for differentiation. Analyzing and revisiting concepts has become easier using online assessments. For students it can allow self pacing and that they take assessments at their own pace. It can vary the form of an assessment and it can allow more diverse options.
Share any thoughts or reflections that the students had on using technology with this assessment. Students have enjoyed the shift in tech usage for the trigonometry review. Whether this continues or was because it was a new form of technology is tbd.
How did using technology change how you taught, monitored student progress, changed what you were learning in class, assessed or provided feedback for assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, or exit tickets.
Technology has intensely shifted my instructional format of instruction. Students take notes in a semi flipped format where I create videos and they take notes and self assess their progress. Information gathered while they do that or immediately after with in class socratives or mathxl assignments gives me data immediately and allows for directed instruction for small groups. Quizzes,tests and exit tickets are predominantly done in mathxl. It allows easy retakes without a teacher having to create another similar test and allows for checks before they take the retake. They can easily see practice tests, access videos, help me solve this, sample problems, and access the instructor (me ) with ease. Interactive games increase enjoyment and students can easily track progress, as can I.
